Being committed to a doctor doesn’t mean asking him for medical help every time we have any minor emergencies. Moreover, sometimes we just have no opportunity of visiting our primary care physician. And it is the reason to go to a nearby walk-in clinic. Routine ailments like cold, flu, cuts and so on – all the complaints can provide a lot of discomfort and can even cause some complications but they don’t worth wasting extra time and money.
Patients can visit Minor Emergency Centers even in the evenings and on weekends without waiting for appointment when most of the regular doctors’ offices don’t work. Doctors there are able to help with all kinds of non-life threatening diseases, prescribe medication and start the necessary treatment of minor issues. It is very convenient for people who work late and are unable to visit a doctor during business hours.
Walk-in clinics are more convenient than hospital emergency rooms. It is most of all important for people without insurance. In some cases it can be ten times cheaper to consult a doctor from an urgent care center.
Walk-in clinics yet have some disadvantages. The first is waiting time that can’t be predicted. Sometimes when you come there you can be accepted immediately, but other times there is a queue.
It is believed as a kind of disadvantage that you can’t choose neither a doctor, nor a nurse so you can’t get a personalized care like it is with your family physician. But it barely can’t be called a real problem.
Obviously there are more pros than cons when we speak about a walk-in clinic. Our health periodically requires immediate actions and this method of medical service can be very helpful and cost effective.
